Since 1997, the Governor's International Breakfast has brought together Maine's civic, business, academic, and government leaders to make the case that Maine's prosperity is inseparable from its global connections. Presented by the World Affairs Council of Maine and the Maine International Trade Center, the breakfast has spent the last four years going deep on the forces that actually shape Maine's economy and its place in the world — climate and energy, food security, workforce and immigration, and the state's strategic role in the Arctic and North Atlantic.

The 2026 breakfast draws those threads together. A retrospective panel will examine what Maine has built across trade, energy, workforce development, supply chain resilience, Arctic engagement, and public diplomacy — and what the state's institutions, businesses, and communities must continue to invest in to remain competitive and connected. Governor Mills will offer fifth and final address to the breakfast, reflecting on Maine's global engagement and the importance of sustaining these partnerships into the future.

Maine is more globally connected than most people realize. The question this year isn't whether that matters — it's what it takes to protect and build on what Maine has already made.
