Maine’s education system is at a pivotal moment. Once recognized as a national leader, the state is now facing declining academic indicators, shifting student needs, and growing questions about how well our schools are preparing young people for life after graduation. While nearly everyone agrees that education must improve, there are many different ideas about what that improvement should look like.
Join us for a candid and thought-provoking conversation about the current state of PreK–12 education in Maine and what it means for our future workforce. This discussion will bring together perspectives from the classroom, school leadership, and the business community to explore both the challenges and the opportunities ahead.

    Panelists include:

    • Dr. Jacqueline Edmondson, University of Southern Maine

    • Pender Makin, Commissioner, Maine Department of Education

    • Heather Perry, Superintendent, Gorham School District
