Veronica Robles' Female Mariachi Trio
Mariachi singer, musician, and Latin American folkloric dancer and choreographer, Veronica has transcended her trade to become a cultural icon for Latinos in Boston. Her remarkable utilization of the power of the arts and culture has been instrumental in uniting the community and fostering awareness of the importance of diversity. This June, she brings Boston’s First All Women Mariachi Band and their message of Peace and Unity to Mayo Street Arts for one night only of authentic Mariachi music!
This event will feature an open dance floor with limited seating. Veronica will be joined by Hermila Vargas to start us off with a dance lesson.
Hermila Vargas is a traditional artist who grew up in Mexico. She learned traditional dance at an early age and went on to study at Bellas Artes University and Casa de la Cultura en Mexico. In 2024, Hermila was awarded a Traditional Arts Apprenticeship to teach dances to her apprentices, Kelly Cunae and Bisa Ortiz, and perform for community events in their town of Milbridge, Maine.
Earlier in the afternoon, Veronica Robles' trio will perform for students in grades PK-5 as part of our partnership with East End Community School. Veronica Robles Mariachi is the last of three artists-in-residence selected directly by the students from a menu provided by MSA in this unique program!
