In the 21st century, students need to learn skills such as collaborating, communicating, creative problem-solving, STEM skills, and technology, as well as, the traditional academic skills of reading, writing and math.  They also need to gain global competence by learning about the world and becoming familiar with different cultures in order to succeed.

Portland Schools Superintendent Emmanuel Caulk will discuss how education must change to prepare students for careers and life in the 21st century, and how the Portland Public Schools are being transformed to meet that challenge.
