David Daigler, President of the Maine Community College System, will discuss the vital role the colleges play in developing an
educated, skilled and adaptable labor force in Maine that is responsive to the changing needs of the economy.
Maine has an old problem, but a new solution. Stubborn workforce shortages aren’t going away and old ideas and "buckling down" aren’t solving the problem. We need new solutions, and Maine's community colleges are on it.
The Chamber is proud to welcome David Daigler, President of the Maine Community College System to share how community colleges have rebuilt Maine’s talent pipeline with a new short-term workforce training platform that continues to evolve. These are tailored training programs that meet a business's immediate needs, delivering the skills Maine's businesses crave - when needed, where needed. These new programs target new employees, career-changers, and incumbent workers so they get the skills they need *right now* - and they’re stackable so workers looking to keep going can continue their education and earn certificates or degrees.
We won't wish our way out of the workforce shortage. It's time for bold strokes and decisive action. With early college, Free College, and custom-built short-term training, Maine's community colleges are all in.
