Holiday Inn has confirmed the filtration system is hospital grade, that coffee will be full-serve, and there will only be 5 people seated per table, spread out across the ballroom. PANELISTS
Laura Fortman, Commissioner, Maine Department of Labor
Commissioner Fortman is responsible for labor standards enforcement, employment and training programs, unemployment insurance, labor market information, and vocational rehabilitation services. Fortman brings more than 20 years of public policy and advocacy experience to the Department of Labor, which she also led under Governor John Baldacci from 2003 to 20011. Fortman also served as Deputy Administrator for the Wage and Hour Division at the U.S. Department of Labor from 2013 to 2017, where she was responsible for enforcing our nation’s most fundamental labor standards, including requirements for minimum wage, payment of overtime, prohibitions on child labor, the right to take leave under the Family Medical Leave Act, worker protections in immigration-related programs, such as our H-visa programs, and government contracting programs.
Matt Lewis, President, HospitalityMaine
Matt Lewis is president and CEO of HospitalityMaine, the state’s only non-profit trade group representing hotels and restaurants. Since taking the post in February, he has traveled extensively across the state building relationships with hospitality stakeholders. Matt is a strong advocate for Hospitality and Tourism. Matt works to promote a message that the Hospitality industry is a wonderful career option for Mainers and their families.
Matt relocated to Maine, after 30 years in California. He is the former Executive Director of Visit Richmond CA and ran global sales for Nikko Hotels in San Francisco. His years of experience in International hotels combined with a focus on business travel have guided his approach to hospitality leadership.
Matt is greatly enjoying Maine and is an avid traveler, having visited 70 countries. Matt is honored to lead HospitalityMaine and thanks the hard working staff and Board of Directors for their dedication.
