Was excited to try this studio while visiting Portland, as I love my spin studio back home. My two friends and I signed up online for our first free class and when we arrived we were told we had to pay for the first class since we were from outside the area.
I was confused as it didn't say anything when I signed up online and I had put in my address and everything. Not sure if this is true for all Cyclebars, or just this location. The woman who checked us in was not super accommodating, and offered us the class for $20, which I wasn't prepared to pay that much as I wanted to try this studio for the first time. After declining the offer, it felt like we were being a little bit judged. If this is the case, they should clarify the free class is only for residents!
Super upset, but I wasn't willing to pay $20 just to test out a new studio for the first time.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Sep 22, 2019First to Review
Cool new spin shop in Portland, convenient to 295 and plenty of parking right out front. Great vibe and a plenty of secured lockers for your belongings.
The music is loud, the room is dark and the peddles are smooth. Shoes are provided, so feel free to ask for assistance for your first clip in and rest assured you are at the right seat adjustment for a heart pumping ride.
Young bunch motivates you through the 44 minute work out!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brittany M.South Portland, ME468Nov 9, 2020
I cannot say enough wonderful things about CycleBar! I had never taken a cycling class in my life prior to joining CycleBar, but signed up for a "first ride for $15" deal they had on their website.
When I signed up for the promotion, I was feeling super defeated and discouraged after cancelling a less-than-impressive/reluctantly used gym membership and felt like I lost my drive to exercise. I was thrilled with my CycleBar experience and hooked after my first class!
The staff is super nice and motivating! I find myself at CycleBar 4+ times per week! I've tried nearly everything workout-wise and could never get myself into a routine - but I've found a routine - and a class - that I look forward to attending each time!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Courtney E.Lynn, MA49832May 17, 2021
BEST SPIN CLASS!!!! We hosted our girl Molly's bachelorette party in Portland and Cyclebar went above and beyond for our bride ride! They were so excited to plan with us from the moment we booked and truly outdid themselves to make our experience so special! They let me pick the playlist and music theme to fit the bride, they decorated every locker for us in our final fiesta theme, and then offered a complimentary mimosa bar that was also decorated on brand with our theme (and even gave the bride a cyclebar bride ride shirt!) IF YOU ARE HOSTING A BACHELORETTE IN PORTLAND YOU NEED TO BOOK CYCLEBAR! XOXO

I've been coming to CB Portland for 4 months now. It has made it so easy to get back in shape! I've always enjoyed the playlists and the motivational instructors - but I've finally just started enjoying the workouts. Like kombucha, at first you don't know why you're drinking it because it doesn't taste good - but you can't stop. Then you get a taste for it. Now instead of looking at the clock I get to the ride and am pleasantly surprised I didn't pay attention to it!

I've been coming to Cyclebar for over a year now and I look forward to every spin class! All the instructors are wonderful and motivating, and I love that it's a locally owned spot. They're always coming up with fun theme rides and off site specialty rides to keep it interesting!

If you read my reviews, you know that I love food and snacks. Exercise is often not on the top of my list, HOWEVER that has all changed due to CycleBar.
Not only is the atmosphere fun, clean, and well kept (and also brand spanking new), but the environment is distinctly more friendly than many fitness studios.
I've even found myself (gasp) waking up early and going to spin before work.
I highly recommend Jackie (who is also my friend, for full disclosure) and Erin- both of whom are great and very motivating!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Becky M.Portland, ME20726386Oct 22, 2019
Cycle Bar is definitely the most FUN workout I've ever had.
The staff is very helpful and nice. They will help you check in, get set up with a locker, find your shoe size (they have clip-in shoes if you don't have your own!) and set up the bike. First timers should not feel intimidated because you will be supported. You only have to bring a water bottle (which you can fill there). Each bike has a fresh towel for sweat- you will need it!
The brand new cycle theater (love that term) is dark and the lights change color and intensity giving it a club-like feel. The music is varied and you ride to the beat of the song. Your RMPs and Power are visible at all times on the bike's screen. A lot of time is spent out of the saddle doing hills and sprints. You will get one heck of a workout. The choreography is typically easy to follow (coming from someone extremely uncoordinated) and involves travels, chest presses and elbow drops. (More fun than it sounds). A portion of class is spent doing strength movements with a 4 or 6 pound bar. Think bicep curls, triceps extensions, shoulder presses, etc. They burn! Each class ends with a stretch.
There are monitors for some friendly competition and you get a performance summary emailed to you.
The showers are equipped with everything you need to get ready including shampoo, conditioner, razors, full size towels, lotion and hair dryers.
There are a variety of class times to fit everyone's schedule and plenty of parking. I have only experienced "The Classic" ride but CycleBar (which is a chain) apparently also does themed rides. Hopefully this will come to Portland soon. The only down-side is it's a bit pricey. If you choose the monthly unlimited and go every day it's a good deal but if you are unable to do that (like me) each ride is expensive.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
